Fresh and unsettling revelations have come to light regarding the gruesome abduction and killing of two students from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), whose sudden disappearance on June 20 sent shockwaves through the Ondo State community.

The victims, 25-year-old Friday Abah and 19-year-old Eloho Okah, were confirmed dead by the Ondo State Police Command, which described the incident as a deliberate and calculated act of violence.

During a press briefing on Wednesday, Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal disclosed that the students were kidnapped by a group of armed robbers who later murdered them to conceal their crime. The police launched an investigation after receiving complaints from the victims’ families on June 24.

Through forensic tracking, officers traced an iPhone 14 Pro Max belonging to one of the students to Lagos, leading to the arrest of 38-year-old Abdul Mohammed Mubarak. He confessed to buying the phone from a man named Ojo Michael, who was subsequently apprehended in Aramoko-Ekiti.

Michael, upon interrogation, admitted to participating in the crime and identified Oladele Femi landlord to one of the victims as the mastermind. Along with another suspect, known only as “Kola,” the trio allegedly conspired to kidnap, rob, and extort the students.

Police reports revealed that ₦800,000 was withdrawn from Abah’s bank account during the ordeal. The criminals reportedly decided to kill both students after Eloho Okah recognized Michael, fearing they would be exposed.

Their bodies were dumped between Agbado and Ode-Ekiti. While Okah’s body has been recovered for autopsy, authorities are still searching for Abah’s remains, believed to have been discarded in a river.

The stolen Lexus RX 350 belonging to the victims was also recovered.

Commissioner Lawal assured that justice would be served and vowed to apprehend the fugitive, “Kola,” still on the run.
