Nigerian Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has finally reacted to the reports submitted by the Lagos Judicial Panel on the Lekki Toll Gate shooting which occurred during the #EndSARS protest.
Recall that the panel had presented the names of people who were killed, missing and injured as a result of the brutality meted out by the police and soldiers on peaceful protesters.
However, at a news conference on Tuesday, 23 November, Lai Mohammed insisted that the reports are laced with errors; recycled fake news.
According to him, the same allegations made by Nigerians were merely compiled and submitted by the panel.
“Without mincing words, never in the history of any judicial panel in Nigeria has a report been so riddled with discrepancies and conclusions that are not backed up [with facts.
It was a phantom massacre. The report in circulation cannot be relied upon. The leakage of an unsigned report to the public is not enough.
There is absolutely nothing in the report, circulating, to change our mind that there was a massacre at the Lekki tollgate“, the information minister affirmed.
