Detectives in Lagos have begun questioning alleged victims connected to controversial sexual allegations involving Pastor Chris Okafor, the Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, after he failed to appear for a scheduled police invitation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti.
Pastor Okafor was expected to report to the office of the deputy commissioner of police overseeing SCID at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026. The invitation followed an order from the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, directing a full investigation into allegations considered capable of disturbing public peace.
By 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Pastor Okafor had yet to appear. A senior police officer told The Nation that authorities were still awaiting his arrival, emphasizing that police operations continue around the clock.
“We have not seen him yet, but we are still waiting because the police operate 24 hours a day. We cannot say he is defying the police at this stage. Let’s wait till the end of today; hopefully, he will come,” the officer stated.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Lagos police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi confirmed that the force had received multiple complaints related to alleged sexual misconduct, prompting the formal invitation extended to the pastor.
An SCID officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that officers had waited all day for Pastor Okafor but he did not report as requested. Following his absence, police invited the alleged victims to come forward to assist in the investigation, assuring them that their identities would be kept strictly confidential.
The controversy began in mid-December 2025 after allegations against Pastor Okafor circulated on social media. Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, in a series of Instagram videos, claimed she had a long-term sexual relationship with the cleric starting in 2017. She accused him of breaking promises of marriage, sharing explicit material, and playing a role in the breakdown of her previous marriage.
The claims have sparked widespread discussion in both religious and public spheres. Sources indicate that the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria may take disciplinary action, while Pastor Okafor is reportedly stepping aside from his pastoral duties until the investigation concludes.

@omijagun:”If he doesn’t want to honour the invitation, then he should be arrested. He has to answer the questions being asked.”
@engr_alo_joseph:”If he is found guilty, the law should serve justice ASAP.”
@chairman_dsr :”He that allergies must prove, the victims should make statements to police with evidence before the police can arrest them, otherwise it’s a mere social media rant. the victims must write petition or else he may sue police for fundamental human rights violations, court base on facts not cho cho choo in social media, but if the victims make statements that indicted him of the crime, if he doesn’t appear to police, police will get warrants from court and appear in his house, either ways, he must answer to the crime, but if the victim doesn’t feed police with any information but just rants on social media, police hands are tied, they can’t do otherwise, infact police may even arrest the victims for cyber bullying him and wrong accusations.”
