Lagos Police Launch Probe into Pastor Chris Okafor Over Doris Ogala’s Allegations

  • The Lagos State Police have ordered an investigation into Pastor Chris Okafor following sexual misconduct and other serious allegations made by actress Doris Ogala.
  • Despite no formal petition, the SCID has been directed to question the pastor and the accusers as public pressure mounts.

The Lagos State Police Command has commenced an official investigation into Pastor Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, following sexual misconduct allegations leveled against him by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to handle the case, even though no formal written petition has been submitted by any of the alleged victims.

Confirming the development, Lagos Police spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi stated that the command has decided to move beyond circulating social media narratives to conduct a proper forensic investigation.

According to her, the SCID has been instructed to invite Pastor Okafor for questioning, as well as summon the alleged victims, despite the absence of an official complaint.

The police also disclosed that they are reaching out to digital content creators and YouTubers who have interviewed the accusers, in a bid to establish direct contact with witnesses and obtain relevant evidence.

The investigation was triggered by a series of allegations made by Doris Ogala, who accused the cleric of breaching a marriage promise, claiming they were involved in a secret nine-year relationship that allegedly began in 2017. She further alleged that the pastor shared her intimate photographs without consent.

In a more recent escalation, Ogala publicly challenged Pastor Okafor to explain his alleged involvement in the death of her younger brother, a claim that has intensified public scrutiny.

The police action follows Pastor Okafor’s announcement during his New Year crossover service that he would temporarily step away from ministerial duties until February. He described the break as a spiritual retreat and an opportunity to rest with his wife, Pearl, following their recent wedding.

However, critics and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) have linked the decision to growing internal and external pressure arising from the allegations.

Rejecting the pastor’s decision to step aside, Ogala insisted that withdrawing from the pulpit is insufficient, stressing that she wants answers regarding her brother’s death.

The SCID is expected to begin formal questioning of both the cleric and the accusers in the coming days.
