The Lagos State Government has denied authorizing the recent demolition of structures on Sixth Avenue, FESTAC Town, clarifying that it had no involvement in the exercise.
Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, stated on Tuesday, October 14, in Alausa that the state operates under a transparent and regulated procedure before any demolition is carried out.
He explained that such actions require proper statutory notices and engagement with affected persons, emphasizing that no such process was initiated by the state in this case.
Olumide urged all agencies, including federal bodies operating in Lagos, to seek clearance from the ministry before carrying out demolitions.
“Any demolition conducted without proper authorization does not represent this administration,” he said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to fairness, due process, and the protection of property rights.
In other news…… Nigerian gospel singer Tope Alabi has revealed that she went through several failed relationships before finally settling down in her current marriage.
The “Oore Ti O Common” crooner shared her experience in a recent video posted on Instagram, describing a painful and confusing pattern she encountered with men as a young woman.
According to her, the cycle began when she reached adulthood and got to the stage where it was necessary to introduce a partner to her parents.
“When I became an adult and it was getting to a stage that I need to take men to meet my parents, something strange always come up. The men will just tell me they need to go pray about it and afterward they will no longer reach out to me,” she said in the Instagram video.
The 54-year-old singer and film music composer explained that most of the rejections were often backed by spiritual reasons.
She narrated that, at one point, an intermediary informed her that a potential suitor had gone to consult prophets who warned him against proceeding with the relationship.
“One of our intermediaries at a time told me that one of the men have gone to meet prophets who told him I was not okay to be married to,” she said.
Alabi added that “at least four men stylishly left” her in this same manner.
“Would you tell me to stop appreciating God whenever I remember that? How did I now do it that I eventually got married? I can count like four men that stylishly left me,” she said.
The gospel star went on to share how she eventually met her husband through her boss at work.
“Eventually, I met a man. I met the man through my boss at my workplace. The man promised to marry me. And I told him that is how all men do. I told him to go and ask about the relationship,” she recalled.
However, before the man could officially come for her introduction, her father had already given her hand in marriage to another suitor.
“After he told my parents he was going to come for proper introduction,” she said. “We stopped seeing. Although we did not later need him to come for the introduction again because my father that was supposed to accept him had given out my hand in marriage before he travelled.”
