A Nigerian lady has shared her heartbreaking experience after a scented candle she brought home from the gym caused a fire outbreak that destroyed all her belongings.
In a video posted to her TikTok page, she recounted how the candle, which was given to her at the gym for promotional purposes, led to the tragic incident. After lighting it, she briefly went downstairs to retrieve her phone. Not long after, her sister who was still upstairs began screaming, “Fire! Fire!”
Describing the experience as terrifying, the woman wrote:
““Yesterday was tragic 😭😭 A nightmare I will never forget in my life. I took a scented candle from the gym for ads, I lit the candle and was going to pick my phone downstairs, only for my sister to start yelling fire fire fire… I was startled, shocked, and confused.
“I tried calling the fire service but the line wasn’t going through. I also tried calling people I knew, but help wasn’t coming fast enough. Eventually, I posted on my Snap, and the fire service came.”
She continued, “I watched my house burn into ashes and I couldn’t even do anything about it. If someone had told me a candle would cause all these problems, I would never have believed it. All I have to say is thank you, God, for my life.”
