A young woman, Hadiza Musa Baffa, has accused former Minister of Special Duties and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, of allegedly r@ping her in 2014 and using his influence to silence her for years.

In a video obtained by SaharaReporters on Thursday, August 17, 2025, Hadiza tearfully recounted her ordeal, alleging that Turaki had consistently threatened her life and subjected both her and her child to intimidation.

“He has been using his power and his status to threaten my life and frustrate my life with my child. For the record, I didn’t do anything of such,” she said.

According to her, the former minister is the father of her child. She also dismissed claims linked to a mysterious letter allegedly connected to her.

“I didn’t write any letter and I have no idea about that letter or why the person that wrote it wrote it,” she clarified.

Hadiza narrated that in September 2014, while studying at Base University, Abuja, Turaki sent his driver, identified as Shehu, to pick her up around 4 p.m. She was taken to a residence on Yadema Street, Asokoro, which she later described as “Han’s place.”

She alleged that the following night, the minister came into the room where she was kept.

He came around 1 a.m. in 2014. I don’t want to go into details because it’s not a fun thing to say. He r@ped me that night and asked me not to say anything. He left and I was really scared to talk,” she recounted in tears.

Hadiza added that she tried to conceal her pain upon returning to school, but her friend and roommate quickly noticed something was wrong.

“She asked me, Hadiza are you really okay? You can talk to me. I said, yes, I’m fine. She said, you look different. I said, no, I’m fine.

“There is evidence to be pushed out soon,” she recounted.

Turaki Denies Allegations, Calls Them Politically Motivated

Former Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), has denied r@pe allegations leveled against him by Hadiza Musa Baffa, describing them as “spurious, politically motivated, and orchestrated by adversaries to smear his name.”

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Lawal Umar, Turaki said:

“In light of these facts, it is both fair and just to acknowledge that the allegations were unfounded and, as Mr. Turaki has consistently maintained, were orchestrated by political adversaries using her as part of a smear campaign. He has refused to succumb to such tactics and remains committed to upholding his integrity, the rule of law, and the principles of justice.”

He explained that he kept silent during investigations to avoid being accused of interfering, but that “unverified narratives” later dominated social media.

Turaki claimed he had a long-standing relationship with Hadiza’s family, noting that her mother entrusted her to his care in Abuja. However, after what he described as “financial scams” that led to her arrests, he withdrew his guardianship.

According to him, Hadiza retaliated by petitioning the police with allegations of r@pe, unlawful termination of pregnancy, and threats to life. He said police investigations found no evidence, and though a charge was filed, Hadiza later wrote to withdraw the case, which was struck out.

He added that Hadiza’s father later apologized in writing and that Hadiza herself sent him a WhatsApp message “expressing regret and seeking forgiveness.”

On the DNA controversy, Turaki insisted he first saw the alleged result on social media and challenged its authenticity in court. He noted that the court had restrained parties from relying on the said result.

Despite being discharged, Turaki lamented that the allegations persist, “with different narratives tailored to suit various sponsors,” forcing him to speak out “for the record and posterity.”
