Former House of Representatives member, Dachung Bagos, has criticised the Federal Government’s appointment of Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (Kwam 1) as an ambassador for airport security protocols, describing it as a bad example.
Speaking on Channels TV’s The Morning Brief on Thursday, Bagos said the move sends the wrong signal to Nigerians.
“With all the drama, now he is an ambassador. This means people will think misbehaving at the airport can get you such positions,”
“No matter the explanation, Nigerians see it as wrong.” he said.
He also faulted reports that Comfort Emmanson, an Ibom Air passenger involved in a public altercation, might be considered for a similar role. According to him, such rewards could encourage unruly behaviour on flights.
Bagos urged the government to focus on educating passengers and reviewing airport checks, noting that many travellers don’t even know why devices must be switched to flight mode. He also questioned how Kwam 1’s liquid-filled flask got past security checks.
The Federal Government announced Kwam 1’s appointment on Wednesday, days after a viral incident at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. The move has sparked widespread criticism, especially when compared with the Emmanson case
