The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, also known as “Killaboi,” from Doha, Qatar, to Nigeria, where he will stand trial for the alleged murder of 21-year-old Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe.

Onuwabhagbe, a first-class student at Lead City University, was reportedly killed on July 13, 2023, at Nnayereugo’s residence in Oral Estate, Ajah, Lagos. After the incident, Nnayereugo fled the country, later releasing a video online that authorities describe as an attempt to mislead the investigation.

The extradition marks the culmination of months-long international cooperation involving the Nigeria Police Force, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, the Federal Ministry of Justice, and Qatari judicial agencies.

According to a statement by Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the investigation began after the victim’s family submitted a petition through their legal representatives on September 29, 2024. INTERPOL NCB Abuja was tasked with tracking down the suspect.

Nnayereugo was initially apprehended in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on October 20, 2023, where he was using the alias “Kanu Princeton Samuel.” However, he managed to escape during a prison break on November 26, 2023. Intelligence reports later revealed that he had moved through several countries using fake identities before settling in Doha, Qatar, in January 2025 under the false name “Toure Abdoulaye,” using a forged Guinean passport.

His identity was eventually verified through biometric data shared between INTERPOL offices in Abuja and Doha. He was arrested by Qatari authorities in February 2025 and, following a formal request from Nigeria’s Ministry of Justice, was extradited back to Nigeria. He arrived in the country in the early hours of Saturday, April 19, 2025.

The Nigeria Police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring that justice is served in this case.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the international cooperation that led to the arrest and return of the suspect. He expressed gratitude to the Qatari government, INTERPOL NCB Doha, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar for their support.

He assured Nigerians that the suspect will face prosecution, reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to justice and public safety.
