- Police said the victims were rescued unharmed after a coordinated operation that led to the arrest of suspects and the killing of two kidnappers during a gun battle.

The Oyo State Police Command has disclosed that a personal assistant attached to a member of the family of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, allegedly collaborated with kidnappers involved in the abduction of his sister and her two children in Ibadan.
The revelation was made by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olayinka Ayanlade, during an interview on Channels Television, where he provided updates on the June 3 kidnapping incident.
According to the police spokesperson, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly supplied crucial information that enabled the abductors to plan and execute the operation successfully.
The victims, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were reportedly abducted in the Elewura area of Ring Road, Ibadan, while she was taking the children to school.
The incident sparked widespread concern and prompted an intensive security operation involving intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical interventions by security operatives.
Ayanlade explained that the operation eventually led security personnel to the kidnappers’ hideout, where a gun duel ensued between the suspects and law enforcement agents.
During the exchange, two of the suspected kidnappers were killed, while several others were arrested and are currently assisting investigators with further information regarding the crime.
The police confirmed that all three victims were rescued unharmed and have since reunited with their family.
Describing the rescue as a major breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping in Oyo State, the command said investigations remain ongoing to identify and apprehend every individual connected to the crime.
The police also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities, stressing that public cooperation remains vital in tackling criminal activities across the state.
