Ikechukwu Ogbonna, popularly known as IK Ogbonna, is a Nigerian actor who has responded to the passing of actor Junior Pope.
He demanded that the regulations governing Nollywood film production be urgently regulated.
IK Ogbonna drew the regulating body’s attention to the need to control late-night shooting, especially for individuals who work long hours and therefore deteriorate their immune systems.
He pointed out that having the medical department available on every set of any fillm in an emergency should be prioritised.
The fair-skinned actor continued, lamenting the regular passing of well-known Nollywood actors and adding that a body that does not get enough sleep deteriorates.
“We must urgently address the issue of safety in Nollywood. There are several important points I would like to emphasize, but to summarize, it is crucial that every movie set includes a medical department from now on.
“Additionally, we need to seriously consider the impact of late-night shoots, particularly on those who work tirelessly back-to-back. When the body does not receive proper rest, it inevitably begins to deteriorate (fail).
“It is disheartening to say but we only hear of the celebrated we lose, but we tragically lose crew members all too frequently. May this unfortunate loss serve as a catalyst for change, ultimately saving lives,” he wrote.
