Nollywood star Juliana Olayode has spoken out about the rising trend of brides charging exorbitant prices for aso ebi at weddings.

In a recent video, she disclosed that some brides demand as much as ₦500,000 for a few yards of fabric. According to her, it becomes wasteful since guests rarely wear the outfits again after the ceremony.

Juliana, who previously had a public fallout with fellow actress Funke Akindele, also lamented that despite paying heavily for aso ebi, many attendees end up standing because event venues are often filled with content creators occupying the seats.

She added that matters are worsened when brides invite singer Segun Johnson, whose lively performances push guests to spend even more by spraying money.

As a way forward, the actress advised brides to either focus on selling aso ebi or allow money spraying, but not both. She suggested pricing the fabric at a more affordable range of ₦20,000 to ₦25,000. To ease the burden, she also recommended that brides provide gele in different colors instead of forcing uniformity.

Juliana stressed the importance of being considerate, urging brides to keep aso ebi costs reasonable so the celebration can be enjoyable for everyone.
