Nigerian gospel singer and pastor Nathaniel Bassey has shared a personal experience involving a man he described as a traditional spiritualist who allegedly tried to cast a spell on him.

The cleric explained that the encounter happened on an expressway and noted that it was the second time the same individual had approached him.

Bassey said the man tapped on his car window and began speaking words he believed were meant to spiritually manipulate or influence him.

In response, the pastor stated that he proclaimed scriptural declarations about God’s protection, expressing firm belief that no harmful act would prosper against him. He added that the man stayed for a short while before he instructed him to leave.

Speaking about the incident, Bassey clarified that he did not share the story to promote fear or magnify evil, but rather to emphasize his conviction about spiritual realities and the strength of faith.

His words …

“I don’t know how we knew, but this was the second time that this same guy, the ‘juju man,’ was coming.

“One time on the express road, he came and knocked. He was casting an enchantment, hoping that it would influence me. He was commanding me to do something, but I just stood there and laughed.

“I said, didn’t they tell you that as they went from one kingdom to another, He suffered no man to do them wrong; He rebuked kings for their sake, saying, ‘Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm’?

“I just regretted that I should have kept him there for the police. While he was there, he was waiting for the spell to work on me. But Numbers 23:23 says there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel.

“I came out of my car and ordered him to get out of here, you dirty devil, quick. I’m not saying this to boast, but while we do not glorify the devil, there is wickedness in the world.”
