Journalist Questions Why Women in Abusive Marriages Have Multiple Children

Nigerian journalist Anastasia Odochi Ozoemena has questioned why women in abusive marriages often have several children, making it harder for them to leave.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, she pointed out that in all the abuse cases she’s currently handling, the women involved have at least four children or more.

“I sincerely do not understand this. All the cases of women in abusive marriages that I handle, most of them have FOUR kids and above. You are in a ” terrible marriage “ yet you are having plenty children. Help me make sense of this. Most times, the man is not financially stable. Na the women dey huzzle. More kids to suffer. Making divorce impossible. Increasing circle of poverty. Most importantly, how do you get pregnant for a man that beats you and drags you to hell. My head ooo !!!,” she wrote.
