The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced new cut-off marks for the 2025/2026 academic session. According to the latest update, candidates will need a minimum score of 150 for admission into universities. Polytechnics and colleges of education will accept 100, while colleges of nursing sciences now require 140.
The announcement was made during the JAMB Policy Meeting held in Abuja. The board noted that these figures serve as the baseline for admissions, but institutions are allowed to set higher cut-off marks based on the competitiveness of their courses and available space.
This development means that while students who meet these minimum scores are eligible to apply, scoring higher improves the chances of admission, especially for competitive courses like Medicine, Law, and Engineering. Candidates are also expected to participate in post-UTME screenings organised by their chosen institutions.
JAMB advised candidates to regularly check the websites of their preferred schools for departmental cut-offs, screening dates, and other requirements. Students are also urged to prepare seriously for post-UTME exams and not rely on the UTME score alone.
