Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo shared thrilling news on Monday, April 6, 2026, highlighting the impressive performance of her latest film, Return of Arinzo, which hit cinemas less than a week prior.
The actress announced that her movie topped the Nigerian box office during the Easter weekend, emerging as the highest-grossing film over the period.
According to Iyabo, Return of Arinzo earned ₦104.8 million in its opening weekend, setting multiple records. These include the biggest Easter weekend opening, the highest weekend earnings, and the second-best opening weekend for any film in 2026.
FilmOne Entertainment, the movie’s distributor, confirmed the achievement via an Instagram post, praising the film’s strong debut at the box office.
This milestone follows a viral incident at the movie’s Lagos premiere involving Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham. In a widely shared video, Toyin attempted to greet Akindele, who appeared unresponsive, sparking heated reactions online.
The situation intensified on social media, with both actresses reportedly unfollowing each other on Instagram, adding to the buzz surrounding the film.
