In other news…. A retaliation attack in Plateau State has claimed the lives of two people, including a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), following earlier violence in the area.

The incident occurred after an initial attack on Gari Ya Waye community in Angwan Rukuba, located in Jos North Local Government Area, which reportedly left about 30 people dead on Sunday, March 29, 2026.

In the aftermath, some aggrieved residents allegedly launched retaliatory attacks on unsuspecting passersby along the Jos-Bauchi highway, resulting in further casualties.

One of the victims has been identified as Ibrahim Haruna, a corps member who had recently gotten married and was due to complete his national service on Tuesday, March 31.

A friend of the deceased, who shared his grief online, described him as a promising young man whose life was cut short just as he was about to mark a major milestone.

“He was a young man full of life and hope… Today was supposed to be his passing out parade… But life changed in one night… they killed him,” the post read.

The friend further revealed the devastating impact of the loss on the victim’s family.

“He was newly married. He left behind a pregnant wife… Just like that, his dreams, his plans, his future… all gone.”

The situation has heightened tension across the area, raising fears of further escalation.

In response, the state government imposed an immediate 48-hour curfew in a bid to restore calm and prevent additional violence.
