It’s a jab to Peter Obi’s race- Brymo tackles Chimamanda Adichie for rejecting National Honour Only to accept a chieftaincy title

Brymo has slammed Chimamanda Adichie for accepting a chieftaincy title in her hometown of Abba, Anambra state, after purportedly refusing President Muhammadu Buhari’s National Honour.

The musician called the refusal “blackmail,” adding that it is an insult to Peter Obi, an Igbo man running for President in the next 2023 presidential election.

“Chimamanda refusing national honours, yet accepting chieftaincy title in her village, is a jab to Peter Obi’s race. She’s an eastern mother. She’s that important. This conversation is not about elections,” Brymo said in a Twitter space.

The vocal musician continued, “It’s about our collective healing. It would have been nice if Chimamanda took the award, then stated her reasons. [Like] ‘They gave me this award. I shouldn’t have taken it because Biafra is not healed, but I did for the youth.’”

“She shouldn’t have rejected it just like that. It doesn’t affect the rest of us as it affects the Igbo presidency and Peter Obi. Seeking the office, yet rejecting things from it is blackmail. I will be happy if we can just forgive yourselves,” he added.

Chimamanda refused to grace or accept the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) award ceremony on October 11, 2022.

Chimamanda Adichie receives chieftaincy title in hometown

Popular writer, Chimamanda Adichie, has been conferred with a chieftaincy title by her hometown.

Adichie, who hails from Abba in Anambra State, was on Friday honoured with the title of ‘Odeluwa Abba’.

The Governor of Anambra State, Charles Soludo, amongst other dignitaries were present at the ceremony.

A Facebook user, Uche Nworah, who shared photos from the ceremony, wrote,
“Award-winning novelist, Chimamanda Adichie, was on Friday honoured by her native abba hometown, Njikoka LGA, Anambra State, with the chieftaincy title of odelụwa (she who writes for the world).
