Grammy-winning Nigerian artiste Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has opened up about the qualities she considers unacceptable in a romantic partner.

Speaking in a recent interview with Complex, the Love Me Jeje hitmaker explained that she cannot be with someone who lacks friendliness or curiosity. According to her, a relationship makes little sense if one partner shows no genuine interest in the other.

“A major red flag for me is someone who doesn’t try to be your friend,” she said. “Anyone who isn’t curious about you is also a red flag. What’s the point of being together if you don’t want to know me? If your partner doesn’t care to learn more about you, that relationship should end.”

Tems described herself as a “lover girl” but noted that she now approaches relationships more cautiously because of past experiences. For now, she said, her main priority is nurturing self-love.
