On Thursday March 18, The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was ordered by a federal high court sitting in Abuja to issue a certificate of return within 72 hours to Ifeanyi Ararume, as winner of the Imo North Senatorial election.
Court upholds Ararume’s election as senator representing Imo North Senatorial District and orders INEC to issue Certificate of Return to him.
Justice Taiwo Taiwo gave the judgment based on the result of the December 5, 2020, Imo North Senatorial bye-election, after Ararume was declared as the valid candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
Taiwo who upheld the election of Ararume, also ruled that the 3rd defendant (Chukwuma Ibezim) remains disqualified based on the judgment of an Abuja Appeal Court.
