A group, Imo Liberation Movement (ILM), has appealed to Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State to consider job creation as a priority in his administration.
Speaking yesterday in Owerri, leader of the group, Mr. Timothy Obodozie, described the situation in Imo as “worrisome.”
According to him, “all talk and no action” style of governance would continue to drag the state backward instead of providing the expected dividends of democracy.
He added that lack of effective policies to tackle the challenges of youth unemployment in the state “portends disaster.”
He said: “The government, therefore, must as a matter of urgency, declare emergency in the youth sector and also immediately begin the process of achieving her campaign promises of industrialisation and massive development of the youths of Imo State as a panacea to the plague.
“Imo State government cannot afford to continue this lackadaisical attitude towards our youths in precarious situation.
“We must appreciate the fact that unemployment, lack of development policy and programmes for the youths portend disaster if not hastily addressed by the state government.”
