BBNaija star Vee has opened up about the constant pressure she faces regarding marriage as she approaches her 30th birthday. She revealed that even friends she hasn’t been in touch with for months suddenly reach out only to ask about her love life, often overlooking her career and personal challenges.
“Nobody warned me about how many times I’d have to answer questions as a woman turning 30 this year,” Vee shared.
She described a recent conversation with a married friend living overseas: “Hi V, oh my god, it’s been ages since we last spoke…Anyway, I was praying and got something…When are you getting married, husband? Like, have you checked the cost of groceries lately?” Vee added that her friend didn’t ask about her job or the work that supports her life her focus was solely on whether she was seeing anyone.
Vee explained that while she does hope to get married and have children in the future, her current priority is her career and personal growth. “I can’t control when I’ll meet the right person, and I’m certainly not going to settle for the wrong one,” she said.
She also recounted a humorous moment in London, where a friend jokingly glanced at her ring finger and said, “Hopefully next time I see you, there’ll be a ring there.” Vee laughed it off, saying, “I’m not in control. I’m not God. Let’s leave it at that.”
Through her reflections, Vee’s story underscores the societal pressures women face around marriage, emphasizing the importance of setting boundaries and focusing on one’s own journey.
