Celebrity fashion designer and social media influencer Veekee James recently opened up about a firm rule in her marriage that she says is non-negotiable.
During an appearance on the YouTube show Off the Top, hosted by media personality VJ Adams, Veekee revealed that she does not allow her husband, Femi Atere, to have a female best friend.
She explained that her stance is not rooted in jealousy or insecurity but in her belief that a wife should naturally be her husband’s closest female confidant.
Veekee clarified that she has no issues with other men including her own brother having female best friends. However, when it comes to her marriage, she draws a firm line.
“As a woman, I am my husband’s only female best friend. That’s how it should be,” she said, adding humorously that even a hypothetical version of herself wouldn’t be allowed to take that place in Femi’s life.
When VJ Adams asked if her rule would change if the female friend were married, Veekee maintained her stance, insisting that a married woman’s closest female confidant should be her own husband, not another man.
Her comments quickly sparked discussion online, with many debating whether emotional exclusivity is essential in marriage or if her approach might be considered too rigid.
