Nigerian singer Okafor Uchenna Victor, popularly known as Mr Real, has sparked online debate after openly calling out fellow artists for releasing new music amid the country’s current challenges.
The “Legbegbe” hitmaker shared an emotional message, highlighting the harsh reality many Nigerians face, which he described as alarming and chaotic.
He revealed that the troubling news he encounters daily makes it hard for him to remain silent or focus on dropping new songs. Although he has music ready for release, the singer admitted that fear and the nation’s state have delayed his plans.
Mr Real expressed concern over celebrities who continue to release songs as if life is normal, despite increasing insecurity and hardship. He pointed to the frequent kidnappings and deaths, criticizing a growing tendency among people to ignore or stay silent about the nation’s problems.
The singer also condemned those who keep partying and promoting the idea that “life goes on,” arguing that such attitudes contribute to the problem by allowing the chaos to persist.
While acknowledging that he still goes out occasionally, Mr Real emphasized that the current circumstances are far from normal and questioned why such conditions continue to exist. He drew comparisons to other countries, noting that similar levels of insecurity and instability are rarely considered acceptable elsewhere.
Despite his criticism, Mr Real affirmed that he will continue to speak out about these issues while managing his own lifestyle.
