- VeryDarkMan has addressed accusations over his absence at an Abuja protest, denying claims he tried to discourage participation and describing the event as a political campaign rather than a genuine protest.
- He also reacted to claims that a previous video he made involving the Department of State Services (DSS) was intended to discourage participation in the protest.

Popular social media activist VeryDarkMan has responded to criticisms following his absence at a recent protest in Abuja, addressing accusations that trailed his earlier comments.
In a video shared online, VeryDarkMan revealed that the protest coincided with his birthday, but he was surprised to see discussions about him dominate conversations among some social media users.
According to him:
“There was a protest in Abuja yesterday, it was also my birthday, and majority of Twitter influencers left the protest and was talking about me; why I didn’t come out for the protest? ‘VeryDarkMan is working for APC’, everywhere on Twitter was about VDM.”
He also reacted to claims that a previous video he made involving the Department of State Services (DSS) was intended to discourage participation in the protest.
“They said my DSS video the other day was because I wanted to stop and scare people from protesting.”
The activist, however, questioned the nature of the demonstration, stating that he did not view it as a genuine protest.
“I don’t see what happened yesterday as a protest, I see it as a campaign. It is a political interest movement.”
He added that protests focused on issues directly affecting citizens would have been more relatable and impactful.
“If they had come out to protest about fuel price, insecurity, or taxation, the common man would understand.”
