“If I Was Gay, I Would Say It Loud”- Charly Boy Breaks Silence On Gay Rumours

Charly Boy Urges Nigerians to Focus on Electoral Integrity Ahead of 2027

Veteran Nigerian entertainer and social activist, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, widely known as Charly Boy or Area Fada, has finally spoken out about the persistent speculations surrounding his sexuality.

Renowned for his unconventional lifestyle and bold self-expression, the maverick performer said he has always lived his life transparently, without concern for public opinion or criticism.

In an interview with KAATRUTH, Charly Boy described himself as someone with nothing to hide, stressing that he has never felt the need to conceal any aspect of who he is. According to him, people who live secretive lives often do so out of fear, a feeling he says has never guided his choices.

The outspoken singer maintained that if the rumours about his sexuality were accurate, he would have openly acknowledged them without hesitation. “If I was gay, I would be shouting it from the rooftops. I don’t hide myself. I commit my soul,” he said.

Explaining further,Charly Boy likened his lifestyle to being in a public marketplace where everything is visible. He said he prides himself on being an open book and believes dishonesty stems from a lack of courage to live authentically.

“I can’t lie about anything because liars are people who don’t have the courage to live their true life. I’ve been living my authentic life for ages, so I don’t send anybody,” he added.

For several decades, Charly Boy has remained one of Nigeria’s most controversial and discussed entertainers. His daring fashion choices, unconventional stage presence, and fearless activism have consistently set him apart from the norm.

While his eccentric image and outspoken nature have continued to spark curiosity about his personal life, the veteran entertainer insists he has always been genuine and has no intention of changing that now.
