- Godswill Akpabio has stated that governors now receive about four times the allocations available during his tenure as governor, expressing hope that the increased funds will be used wisely to drive development at the state level.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has spoken on the rise in allocations being received by state governors under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking during plenary on Thursday, Akpabio said that current governors now receive roughly four times the funds that were available during his tenure as Governor of Akwa Ibom State. He noted that the significant increase in resources provides governors with greater capacity to execute development projects and extend governance to grassroots communities.
The Senate President expressed hope that the governors would apply wisdom and accountability in managing the increased funds, stressing the importance of using the resources effectively to meet the needs of their states.
He said: “I wish I was a governor under you. Most of them are saying they collect 4 times what we used to collect. So I can’t go back, I can’t do a change in the constitution.
“Because they have far more money to develop their states and to touch the grassroots for you than we had. And I pray that God will give them the enablement and the wisdom to also do what they are doing at the same time.”

The cleric went on to highlight financial irresponsibility and unfulfilled promises as common pitfalls women tend to overlook, especially when emotions cloud judgment.
He added that ambition without discipline should not be mistaken for virtue, cautioning women not to confuse potential with real progress.
“Avoid Mr Perpetual perpetually broke, perpetually begging, and perpetually proud. Avoid Mr Potential all he has are plans but no action, big dreams but he cannot take small steps.”
Okonkwo also warned against men who constantly seek attention, shift blame onto women for their
