- Asari Dokubo has pledged to support President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election, citing Tinubu’s past support during difficult times.
- The declaration was made while hosting FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who praised unity among political and traditional leaders in Rivers State.

Former militant leader and traditional ruler, Asari Dokubo, has declared his support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Dokubo, who is the Amanyanabo of Torusarama Piri in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, made the pledge while hosting the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, at his palace during Wike’s ongoing “thank you tour,” accompanied by members of the Rivers State Elders Council.
Speaking during the visit, Dokubo vowed to mobilise support for Tinubu under the “Renewed Hope Family” platform championed by Wike. He attributed his loyalty to the president to Tinubu’s support during some of the most challenging periods of his life, describing their relationship as one built on loyalty and gratitude.
According to Dokubo, Tinubu stood by him long before he became a traditional ruler, and he now considers it his responsibility to reciprocate that support. He stressed that he would deploy all available resources within his capacity to ensure the president’s success in the next election.
In his remarks, Wike commended the growing collaboration between political stakeholders and traditional leaders across Rivers State. He noted that his visit was not just political but also personal, highlighting his long-standing friendship with Dokubo, which he said transcends party lines.
The FCT minister added that Rivers State remains unique, as leaders from major political parties are working together to support Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027. He also assured residents that mistakes from the 2023 governorship election would be corrected, emphasising that the focus has now shifted from party politics to the “Renewed Hope” agenda.
