I Was Conductor, Bricklayer Looking For N1,000 Job Before Becoming Governor – Gov Nwifuru

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has revealed that prior to his tenure as Governor, he participated in various menial jobs.

He mentioned that he had previously worked as a bus conductor and a bricklayer, striving to earn N1,000 daily.

He made these remarks during a night-long Adoration programme held on Tuesday in Abakaliki, commemorating the second anniversary of his administration.

Nwifuru expressed that upon reflecting on his life, he understands that God has guided him to this point as a role model for the youth.

The governor emphasized that if he does not fulfill his divine assignment, the youth will bear the consequences.

He said: “I joined Adoration when I was a conductor and any time we have some little issues and we are sleeping at Enugu I will go to Adoration ground, especially in 2001 to 2003 when Adoration witnessed a lot of crisis.

“Father Mbaka has been my spiritual leader, consultant in so many ways, he is trustworthy and reliable. He never looked at my shortcomings even though a lot of people would have allowed that to becloud them.

“I’m gifted to be speaking to you as the governor, some people are not, that is why I won’t take it as a right but a privilege to serve you.

“Even before I contested my second election in 2007, I was still a bricklayer and less than five years I became the Speaker of the State House of Assembly – a bricklayer who was looking for a job to get one thousand naira per day – and like a joke, I’m now your governor. Pray for me not to disappoint God so the youths will not suffer.”
