Nigerian media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, widely known as Daddy Freeze, has addressed the increasing calls for his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following his interview with Blessing CEO.
The controversy arose after Blessing CEO claimed she was battling stage 4 breast cancer, a claim later proven to be based on a falsified medical report. She had requested donations from the public, prompting widespread outrage and calls for legal action against her.
The situation intensified when social media commentator VeryDarkMan revealed that he had submitted a formal petition to the Inspector General of Police in Abuja, accusing Blessing CEO of defrauding Nigerians through false pretences.
In the midst of the backlash, some Nigerians suggested that Daddy Freeze should also be held responsible for giving her a platform to share her claims.
Responding during a live broadcast, Daddy Freeze questioned why he was being targeted, emphasizing that he never solicited donations on her behalf. He noted that he initially believed her story, just as many donors did, because he never imagined someone would fabricate a cancer diagnosis. He also highlighted that the medical report she provided to him was the same one later exposed as fake.
