Popular Nigerian actress Bimbo Thomas has revealed the reason she recently slowed down on taking movie roles.

Speaking on the debut episode of the Old Secret Podcast, she explained that she felt producers were beginning to limit her to a certain kind of character.

“I felt they wanted to box me, they wanted to put me in a corner,” she said.

Bimbo pointed out that she is a versatile actress who can easily adapt to different characters. “One minute I’m speaking phonetically, the next I do ghetto and so on,” she added.

Although many fans know her for her ability to deliver roles in pidgin English, she clarified that it is not her natural style. “I wasn’t born in the barracks, so pidgin isn’t my thing,” she confessed.

The actress became widely recognized after her role in Omo Ghetto and its sequel Omo Ghetto: The Saga. She has since featured in numerous Yoruba and English-language films.

A graduate of Creative Arts from the University of Lagos, Bimbo has been in the Nigerian movie industry for over 10 years and is still celebrated for her talent and versatility.
