A serving corps member has taken to social media to express her distress after she and several others were unexpectedly removed from their Primary Place of Assignment (PPA) during their ongoing National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
The corps member shared her experience on X, explaining that the decision was made abruptly and without any explanation from the organisation where they were posted.
According to her account, multiple corps members assigned to the same workplace were affected at the same time, with none of them being informed about what prompted the action. The sudden development reportedly left everyone shocked and confused.
Identified on X as @barokahoyin, the corps member admitted she was unaware that it was even possible for corps members to be dismissed from their PPA, noting that the situation caught her completely by surprise.
She recounted that they were instructed to report to the office with their PPA posting letters. Initially, she assumed the request might be connected to a positive development, possibly a goodwill gesture associated with the festive season.
However, the outcome was quite the opposite. She revealed that the organisation simply marked “rejected” on their letters and stamped them, effectively relieving all the corps members of their duties.
Her post quickly drew widespread attention online, sparking mixed reactions from Nigerians. While many sympathised with the affected corps members, others shared similar experiences or questioned whether corps members could be dismissed in such a manner.
As of the time of filing this report, the reason for the sudden dismissal remains unknown, raising questions among the public about whether such actions are in line with NYSC rules and regulations.
