Broadcast journalist Rufai Oseni has sparked fresh reactions online after commenting on a tense incident involving the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and protesting union workers in Abuja.
The incident occurred when members of the Joint Unions Action Committee (JUAC) alongside the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) staged a protest at the FCTA Secretariat. The workers, who were reportedly demonstrating over unresolved grievances, attempted to block and intercept Wike’s convoy as he prepared to leave the premises.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the protesters moved toward the minister’s official convoy, forcing heightened security response. To avoid direct confrontation, Wike’s convoy reportedly exited the secretariat through a back gate, bypassing the main exit where protesters had gathered.
Reacting to the development, Rufai Oseni made a controversial remark, saying he “commended Wike for running away the way he did during the protest.” Oseni’s statement, widely shared on social media, was interpreted by some as sarcasm,
In other news…. Youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State have donated ₦100 million toward the purchase of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election nomination form.
The cheque was presented to Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, on Sunday during the APC Youths Endorsement Rally held at the Muhammadu Buhari Square in Lokoja.
Speaking at the event, President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Babangida Onimisi, said the donation symbolised the youths’ endorsement of President Tinubu for a second term in office. According to him, the gesture reflects their confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and ongoing reforms.
APC National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, also addressed the gathering, stating that the policies of President Tinubu and Governor Ododo have had a positive impact on youths across the country.
Similarly, Kogi APC Chairman, Abdullahi Bello, praised the initiative, describing it as a strong show of support and calling for continuity in leadership at both state and national levels.
In his response, Governor Ododo thanked the youths for their support and assured them that he would personally deliver the cheque to President Tinubu. He described the 2027 election as “a choice between progress and rhetoric.”
The rally attracted hundreds of APC youths from across Kogi State’s 21 local government areas.
