I Can End B@nditry in Two Months if Given Control of Security Agencies -Gov Dauda Lawal

  • Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has said he could end b@nditry in the state within two months if granted direct authority over security agencies.
  • In a viral video, he claimed to know the exact locations of b@ndit leaders but is powerless because operatives take orders from Abuja.

Lawal, who grew emotional while recounting residents’ suffering, revealed his administration has supplied 150 patrol vehicles and recruited thousands of community guards and hunters to boost security.

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has expressed confidence that he could eliminate b@nditry within two months if granted direct control over security agencies.

In a viral video, the governor said he has detailed knowledge of the b@ndit leaders and their hideouts but is handicapped because security operatives in Zamfara take orders only from Abuja.

“I swear by Almighty Allah, wherever a b@ndit leader is in Zamfara State, I know. If he moves, I know. With my phone, I can show you their locations today. But we cannot act beyond our powers,” Lawal stated.

The governor grew emotional as he described the plight of residents, who continue to s¥ffer repeated att@cks while security forces delay responses pending clearance from the federal authorities. He cited an incident in Shinkafi Local Government Area where security agents reportedly failed to act promptly during an att@ck.

“If today I have the power to give orders to the security agencies, I can assure you b@nditry in Zamfara will end within two months. Many times I shed tears for my people, because I see the problem but cannot order the security men to act,” he lamented.

Despite these challenges, Lawal highlighted steps taken by his administration to support the f+ght against insecurity. He revealed that 150 patrol vehicles had been distributed to the Police, Army, DSS, and Civil Defence, while thousands of Community Protection Guards and 2,000 hunters from Borno and Yobe States were recruited to boost security operations.

The governor also accused political opponents of deliberately frustrating efforts to restore peace. “The politicization of insecurity is not h¥rting me as a person; it is destroying Zamfara. Some people do not want us to succeed. But I will not stop trying,” he asserted.
