Nollywood actor Femi Adewole, popularly known as Femi Apefe, has addressed claims circulating on social media linking him to the death of his colleague Aunty Ajara.
The actress reportedly died after experiencing complications related to pregnancy, alongside a liver-related illness. Prior to her passing, several colleagues had taken to social media to seek financial and medical help on her behalf as her health continued to deteriorate.
Following her death, a video believed to capture her final moments began circulating online, prompting many people to share prayer videos and messages of sympathy.
The situation took another turn after reports surfaced that the actress had been pregnant. Shortly after, old videos featuring Apefe and Aunty Ajara started trending online, with some social media users alleging that the actor was responsible for the pregnancy.
Reacting to the accusations, Apefe posted a video on his Instagram page where he explained his relationship with the late actress and denied the claims.
According to him, he met Aunty Ajara about two years ago and was immediately impressed by her acting talent. He said he often invited her to join him on movie sets because he believed she had great potential in the industry.
Apefe explained that they later became close friends and that the actress occasionally visited his house, sometimes arriving with the help of a commercial motorcyclist.
He also recounted how he once suggested filming a comedy skit in which Aunty Ajara would play the role of a pregnant woman. The concept, he said, was supported by people around them and the skit was eventually recorded at his residence.
According to the actor, that particular video later fueled rumours online that the actress was actually pregnant with twins.
Apefe firmly denied being responsible for any pregnancy, stressing that the only pregnancy he knew about was the one portrayed in the skit and that he had no knowledge of any real-life pregnancy.
He further revealed that the actress sometimes felt insecure about her body size, but he always encouraged her and admired her dedication to acting.
The actor described himself as one of her strong supporters and expressed sorrow over her death, while distancing himself from the allegations currently circulating online.
