Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu has drawn public attention to the plight of a young widow who is now at risk of being imprisoned, despite being cleared of involvement in her husband’s death.
According to Gwamnishu’s Facebook post, the widow’s late husband, a local vigilante, was shot and later died in the hospital. After his passing, the woman was accused by her in-laws of being involved in his death and was detained for seven days along with a friend.
However, an autopsy conducted on the deceased proved the widow’s innocence. Despite this, her troubles did not end.
Gwamnishu revealed that the woman was forcefully thrown out of her husband’s home by the in-laws. She is now facing a fresh lawsuit for alleged burglary and theft—charges the activist believes are unjust and retaliatory.
Gwamnishu continues to advocate for her, calling on the public and authorities to ensure justice is served and that the widow is not made a victim twice over.
