A man has sparked discussion after asking why many Nigerians in Cape Town appear so wealthy.
He expressed curiosity about their source of income, noting their flashy lifestyle and thriving businesses.
The question has fueled debates on migration, entrepreneurship, and stereotypes about Nigerians abroad.

The Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, received 12 of the rescued miners in Abuja on Friday, according to a statement by NiDCOM’s Director of Media, Abdurrahman Balogun.
Narrating their ordeal, the leader of the group, Igorigo Freeborn, said they were abandoned in unsafe forest conditions by their recruiters and left without pay.
“In spite of the 11 months’ unpaid salaries, we were homosexually abused by our Chinese employers in CAR,” he revealed.
“I am not ashamed to say it. I want other people to learn from it. We were treated badly there, but thank God for sparing our lives to tell the stories today,” he added.
Freeborn appealed to the federal government to address the injustices they suffered, admitting that he once doubted Nigeria but has now found renewed faith.
“I was an unpatriotic citizen who did not think anything good can come out of the country. But we are happy to receive help and succour from Nigeria,” he said.
Reacting, Dabiri-Erewa condemned their treatment.
“She described their ordeal as inhumane and assured that justice will be served, saying the commission in conjunction with relevant government agencies would take up the matter.”
She further urged the rescued miners to turn their experience into advocacy.
“She also advised the rescued men to be of good behaviour and partner with the commission in its advocacy on irregular migration and its consequences.”
