Seven persons were reported to have died at the hands of suspected Fulani herders, including three cousins of SP Catherine Anene, the spokesperson for the State Police Command.
In the Gwer West local government region of Benue State, specifically at Tse Gamber in Sengev and Nagi, Mbachohon Council wards, an attack was said to have taken place.
Locals told our correspondent that on Sunday, herders attacked communities quickly and systematically.
A native who did not want to be mentioned said, “Four people were killed at Tse Gamber in Sengev Council ward, while three others were killed at Camp Nagi in Mbachohon Council ward, located along Naka-Agagbe road.”
According to reports, the attacks on the communities resulted in multiple injuries.
Confirming the attack, the Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, said, “That is my village; three of my cousins were killed, and that is the total number.”
