Security presence at the National Assembly has intensified ahead of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s planned return to plenary on July 22.

Videos circulating online show a heightened deployment of security personnel, including armed officers, enforcing stricter access controls at the main gate of the complex.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan had earlier announced her intention to resume duties following a Federal High Court ruling by Justice Binta Nyako in Abuja, which she cited as the basis for her return.

However, in a statement issued on July 20, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs Chairman, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, countered her claims, saying the court ruling was only an “advisory opinion” and not binding on the Senate.
