Nigerian comedian and content creator Zics Aloma has opened up about a recent disagreement with an old friend who reached out to him after years of no communication.
He explained that the friend, whom he had not spoken to in over two years, suddenly contacted him not for a friendly check-in but to request ₦2 million to complete his house rent. According to Zics, the unexpected demand came as a shock given their long period of silence.
The comedian said he declined the request because he did not have the money available at the time. However, rather than understanding his situation, the conversation reportedly turned sour.
“One of my old friend that I haven’t spoken to for over two years asked me to give him 2 million to complete his house rent and I told him that I don’t have; he insulted me and blocked me,” he said.
Zics Aloma further reflected on how he approaches friendships, noting that he often makes efforts to celebrate his friends, especially during birthdays, but feels the same energy is not always reciprocated.
“You have not spoken to me for the past two years and you’re suddenly billing me. My last birthday I only got one gift from my assistant, whereas I give my friends cake, perfume and wig for their birthday. This year, energy for energy,” he added.
His comments have since generated reactions online, with many social media users discussing friendship boundaries, financial expectations, and how people respond when support is unavailable.
