Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has said that he will never in his lifetime believe and support the ongoing calls for the restructuring of Nigeria, Channels Television reports.
Recall, that Nigerians, especially the Igbos, have been calling for the restructuring of Nigeria, or outright secession.
Obasanjo made this disclosure at the just concluded African Leadership Forum, in Johannesburg, the South African capital.
He added that Nigerians should restructure their minds before calling for a restructuring of the country.
According to the former President, Nigerians’ focus should be on how to include everyone in a nation that is already well endowed.
“I will never support restructuring in my lifetime. We have to restructure our mentality; we have to restructure our minds; we have to restructure our understanding of Nigeria. What country do we want, and if we decide on what country we want, how do we get that country, all hands on deck.
“How do we get inclusive, how do we get every Nigerian feeling a sense of having a stake in the country”, he said.
