A certificate forgery lawsuit filed against Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state, has been struck out by a federal high court in Abuja.
Listed as plaintiffs in the suit were Ugbesia Abudu Godwin, Edobor Williams and Amedu Dauda Anakhu. They accused Obaseki of forging his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) certificate in Classical Studies from the University of Ibadan.
They argued that Obaseki is “not qualified to run or seek election to the office of the governor of Edo State”” in the forthcoming 2020 governorship election.
The judgment came after the management of University of Ibadan (UI) confirmed that Godwin Obaseki graduated from the institution in 1979.
