Nigerian employer has taken to social media to share a shocking experience after an act of kindness towards a new employee allegedly turned into betrayal.
According to the post, the woman in question came seeking employment and was hired immediately. Just three days into her employment, the employer discovered she was seriously ill and decided to help by hospitalizing her and covering medical expenses amounting to about ₦680,000, in addition to a ₦5,000 daily feeding allowance.
After her recovery, she reportedly resumed work, but only four days later, she allegedly broke into her employer’s office, stole a phone and ₦540,000 in cash, and fled. Security cameras reportedly captured the incident.
The employer further claimed that the suspect also stole money and five phones belonging to her colleagues. When contacted, she allegedly admitted needing the money badly and confessed to selling the stolen phones.
“I didn’t know her from Adam before I decided to help her,” the heartbroken employer lamented. “To help now na wahala.”
The case has sparked reactions online, with many warning against blindly trusting strangers while others commended the employer’s initial act of generosity.
