  • Demonstrators demanded stable power and criticized Ikeja Electric while highlighting the impact of outages on businesses and daily life.

Residents of Lagos staged a protest on March 12 over the ongoing inconsistent power supply that has continued to affect homes and businesses across the state.

The demonstration took place in Fadeyi, where protesters marched through the streets while ringing bells and chanting slogans to draw attention to their frustrations over the lack of reliable electricity.

During the protest, many participants demanded stable power supply, chanting, “All we are saying, give us freedom!” and “We’re not asking for too much, make them give us light!” The crowd repeatedly echoed the call, shouting, “Give us light, give us light!”

Several protesters also carried placards highlighting their concerns. Some signs read “No more epileptic power supply,” while others called for an end to estimated billing and demanded regular electricity supply.

Some placards specifically referenced Ikeja Electric, criticizing what protesters described as poor service and irregular power supply.

Residents said the persistent outages are severely affecting businesses and daily life. Many small business owners in particular say they are forced to rely on generators, which have become increasingly expensive to run due to rising fuel costs.
