Ganduje Resigns as APC Chairman, Dalori Takes Over as Acting Leader

The APC has officially confirmed the resignation of its National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Ganduje, former Kano Governor, stepped down on Friday, June 27, 2025, citing health reasons. His resignation letter was submitted through the National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru.

APC spokesperson Felix Morka confirmed the resignation in a statement, noting it takes immediate effect.

“Dr. Ganduje has decided to step down to attend to urgent and important personal matters. Throughout his tenure, he dedicated himself to strengthening the party’s unity and cohesion, expounding its democratic ideals and enhancing the party’s electoral competitiveness,” Morka stated.

Following Abdullahi Ganduje’s resignation as APC National Chairman, President Bola Tinubu has directed Deputy Chairman (North), Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, to step in as acting chairman and convene an urgent NEC meeting to appoint a substantive replacement.

APC spokesman Felix Morka praised Ganduje’s contributions, including securing key defections and court victories.

Though health was cited as the reason for his exit, speculations suggest his resignation may pave the way for Rabiu Kwankwaso’s return to the party.
