Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has set new records in international cinemas as her 2025 movie, Behind The Scenes, achieved historic box-office success in Canada and North America.
The film grossed $111,256 in Canada, making it the highest-grossing Nollywood movie in the country. It also earned $190,249 across North America, setting a new record as the biggest Nollywood cinema release in the region.
In total, Akindele has now crossed ₦2.2 billion in global box-office earnings.
Reacting via Instagram, the actress described the milestone as overwhelming and expressed gratitude to fans in Canada, the United States, Nigeria, and Ghana.
“I’m honestly overwhelmed with gratitude, and I don’t take any of this for granted.
