One of the kidnapped members of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, Kwara State, who recently regained freedom, has narrated the horrifying experience he and other worshippers endured in the hands of bandits.
The victims were released on Sunday, according to an earlier announcement confirming their safety.
Victim Shares Chilling Details of Captivity
Speaking after his release, the victim said the bandits made it clear from the moment they arrived that escape was impossible because they controlled the entire area.
“It was unimaginable because when we got there, we knew it was a dominated area,” he said. “They told us themselves that they are bandits and made us understand that no one can just slip away. With what we saw, nobody could escape. They know all the routes surrounding those bushes within Kwara and other cities.”
Bandits Boast About Terrain Mastery
He described the forest as heavily monitored, with the armed men boasting openly about their deep knowledge of the terrain. According to him, the kidnappers kept the hostages under round-the-clock surveillance, making it clear they could track any movement within the surrounding bushes.
The constant watch, he added, left the captives living in fear and helplessness throughout their stay in the bandits’ den.
