A Nigerian reverend sister, Sr. Gina King, has publicly responded after facing online criticism for the outfit she wore in her birthday photoshoot. The attire, medical scrubs, sparked debate because of the trousers she wore.

Taking to her Facebook page, Sr. Gina King, who is also a nurse, defended her choice and explained the necessity of the clothing.

She wrote: “The outfit I wore is called a MEDICAL SCRUB, and it is the standard uniform required for healthcare practitioners.”

The reverend sister explained that wearing the scrub is not a matter of style but of professional necessity: “Wearing a scrub is not fashion. It is part of my professional attire for hygiene, safety, and proper medical service.”

She further clarified that her religious duties do not interfere with her professional responsibilities: “As a consecrated person, my consecration does not stop me from carrying out my duties as a healthcare worker.”

She added that the loose, trousered attire allows for “free movement, proper coverage, comfort, and safety when attending to patients.”

Sr. Gina King concluded by urging her audience to focus on her service rather than her appearance:

“So please, let us focus on the heart of service rather than the external attire. God bless you all for your understanding”
