Finally, Police Recovers the Stolen Senate Mace

Finally, Police Recovers the Stolen Senate Mace

Yesterday a shocking video of hoodlums invading the Nigerian Senate Chambers and fleeing with the Senate mace made rounds on the internet, as the Nigerian Police further disclosed that embattled Senator Omo-Agege, who was at the center of the incident, wasn’t arrested.

Giving an update on how far the Nigerian Police has gone to recover the stole Senate mace, deputy public relations officer Aremu Adeniran, said the mace was recovered where the hoodlums abandoned it at a point under the flyover before the City Gate. According to him, a patriotic passer-by saw it, and alerted the Police.

Aremu further disclosed that a discreet investigation into the incident is still ongoing to arrest and bring the perpetrators to justice, following the 24hours order given to the Inspector General of Police on Wednesday by the Senate, to produce the mace and also arrest suspects behind the theft.

The names of the invaders who snatched the Senate mace earlier today has emerged after they were arrested by the FCT Police Command.

The suspects were allegedly led into the Senate by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as a protest against his suspension.

The five suspects who are all from Delta state are:

Tuoyo Mabiaku – Warri North Local Government Area

Peter Orede – Warri South LGA

Blessing Edjeke from Abraka In Ethiope East LGA

Lucky Okomu from Oghara in Ethiope West LGA

Prince Enayemo – Ughelli South LGA

The thugs stormed are supporters of a suspended senator, Ovie Omo-Agege. They left the National Assembly with the mace in a black SUV.

We reported yesterday that ace Nigerian comedian, Ali Baba, who slammed Nigerian Politicians over the incident, said if culprits who had made similar moves in the past were punished, the incident which occurred yesterday wouldn’t have happened.

According to Ali Baba, some will snatch the ballot box because, Kamoru did it in Osun state and nothing happened.
