Father Goes Viral for Clever Way He Handled Daughter’s Love for Peanut Butter

  • A Nigerian man, Kelvin Novo, shared a funny parenting story on social media about how he managed his daughter Urenna’s obsession with peanut butter (ose oji).
  • Remembering a trick from his own father, he bought a large container of the spread to let her have as much as she wanted.
  • After seeing the massive portion, Urenna lost interest, and the craving stopped. His creative approach has since gone viral online.

A Nigerian man has amused social media users after sharing how he dealt with his daughter’s extreme love for peanut butter, locally known as ose oji.

The man, identified as Kelvin Novo, took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal that his daughter, Urenna, is obsessed with the spread so much that her “body starts shaking” anytime she sees it.

According to Kelvin, he decided to use a method his own father once used on him to curb a childhood craving. He explained that his father would buy him an excessive amount of whatever food he loved until he got tired of it.

Following the same approach, Kelvin bought a whole painter (a large container) of peanut butter for his daughter, who confidently claimed she could finish it.

He wrote:

“This is my secret anytime I want my kids to stop craving something.
Urenna especially loves ose oji. Anytime she sees it, her body will start shaking.
My father taught me this trick. Anytime I behaved like I loved something too much, he would buy it in excess until I got tired.
So today, I went to the market and bought half a painter of ose oji.
Na me and Urenna tonight. She told me she can finish it.”

In a follow-up post, Kelvin shared that after seeing the large quantity, his daughter was no longer excited and hadn’t even asked for it again.

His story quickly went viral, drawing laughter and admiration from parents online who praised his creative and humorous parenting tactic.
